What Is Formed To Lead?
Leadership in God’s Kingdom doesn’t begin with a title—it begins with surrender.
Formed to Lead is an 8-session course for those faithfully serving at Gateway who sense a call to go deeper. Whether you’re already leading or just starting to feel the nudge, this is a space to explore what it means to lead like Jesus.
It’s not about climbing a ladder. It’s about becoming the kind of leader God can trust with His people.
This is the second step in our leadership pathway—Faithful > Formed > Fruitful—and focuses on spiritual formation, not just leadership skills.
Together, we’ll explore what it means to be shaped by God and set apart to lead. Topics include calling, the heart of a leader, staying close to Jesus, caring for people well, leading in the power of the Holy Spirit, the cost of the call, and finishing faithful. Each session includes teaching, reflection, discussion, and a growth focus to apply throughout the week.
After the eight sessions, we’ll come together for a commissioning moment—a time to pray, encourage, and release you into what God is calling you to.
Who Is It For?
If you’re faithfully serving at Gateway and feel stirred to grow as a leader—this course is for you. It’s for those sensing the call. It’s for those already carrying responsibility and want to lead better. It’s for anyone who wants to be used by God to impact others.
This course is a requirement for anyone stepping into leadership in our church—but more than that, it’s an opportunity to be formed deeply by Jesus.
What Happens After The Course?
We believe in recognising, confirming, and releasing leaders. Once you’ve completed Formed to Lead, we’ll prayerfully consider with you the next steps—whether that’s stepping into new leadership, continuing to grow, or discerning the right timing for what’s ahead.
You Don’t Need to Have It All Together. Just Be Willing.
God forms leaders in quiet places before He uses them in public ones. If you’re ready to take the next step—to grow, to be stretched, and to be formed—Formed to Lead is for you.
