So you’ve decided to follow Jesus. You’ve prayed, believed, and opened your heart to Him. But now you’re wondering, “What happens next?”
The moment you say yes to Jesus, everything changes—not just on the outside, but deep within. You’re not just turning over a new leaf. You’ve started a brand-new life.
You Are Made New
The Bible says when you put your faith in Jesus, your old life is gone and your new life has begun. You’ve been forgiven, rescued, and restored.
“Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
—2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
This doesn’t mean you’ll never mess up again—but now you’re walking with the One who gives you strength to keep going.
You’re Adopted Into God’s Family
When you said yes to Jesus, you didn’t just gain forgiveness—you gained a Father. You’re now part of God’s family, loved and accepted.
“To all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”
—John 1:12 (NLT)
And the Church becomes your spiritual family—people who walk alongside you as you grow.
You Begin to Grow
Faith is like a seed—it needs time and care to grow. Reading the Bible, praying, gathering with other believers, and learning more about Jesus will help your new faith become strong and lasting.
“Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation.”
—1 Peter 2:2 (NLT)
Don’t worry if you don’t know everything yet. God will teach you step by step.
You Have a New Purpose
Following Jesus isn’t just about what you’ve been saved from—it’s about what you’ve been saved for. God has a plan for your life, and He wants to use you to make a difference.
“We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
—Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
Final Thought
Saying yes to Jesus is the start of the greatest journey you’ll ever take. You’re not alone. He is with you. And so is the Church.
Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep following.
God has so much more ahead for you.
