The resurrection is the centre of the Christian faith.
If Jesus didn’t rise, then none of this matters. But if He did—everything changes.
The Bible doesn’t shy away from this. It says clearly:
“If Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless…”
—1 Corinthians 15:17 (NLT)
So what happened that first Easter morning? And can we believe it today?
Jesus Was Really Crucified
History confirms that Jesus of Nazareth was executed by crucifixion under Roman rule.
He was beaten, mocked, nailed to a cross, and left to die. His body was placed in a sealed tomb.
No one disputes that Jesus died. But what happened next shocked the world.
The Tomb Was Empty
On the third day, the stone was rolled away—and Jesus wasn’t there.
His body was never found. And soon after, people started seeing Him alive.
“He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day… He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time.”
—1 Corinthians 15:4–6 (NLT)
The people who saw Him weren’t hallucinating. They touched Him, talked with Him, and ate with Him.
The Resurrection Changed Everything
These same followers, who had run away in fear, suddenly became bold witnesses—willing to suffer and die because they were convinced Jesus had risen.
You don’t give your life for a lie. The resurrection gave them courage, purpose, and power.
And it’s still doing that today.
What It Means for You
The resurrection isn’t just a historical event—it’s a personal invitation.
“I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.”
—John 11:25 (NLT)
Because Jesus is alive:
• Your sin can be forgiven
• Your past doesn’t define you
• Your life has meaning
• Death isn’t the end
Final Thought
Jesus didn’t stay in the grave.
He rose again—just like He said He would. And because He lives, you can too.
The resurrection isn’t just something we celebrate once a year.
It’s the reason we have hope every day.
